Is there such a thing as too much sweet stuff? White Day by ~EdanadE shows us... apparently not! With crafty animations added to the mix, it’s surely a pixel treat for the eyes.

Description

We don't celebrate White Days here at our place. One Valentine's Day is enough, thank you. Heh, imagine the expenses people have to get by in Japan & Korea.. :D Here's something about white day for you clueless-ers out there (at first I went like, White Day? The whole country dresses in white? the freak. :XD:) ~

Saturday March 13, 2004. Fatman Seoul wrote in his blog:

White Day

“Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there lived a handsome Prince. One fine day, the Prince met the most beautiful maiden he had ever laid eyes on at the annual Spring Fair. It was love at first sight. The Fair Maiden was reluctant to reciprocate, uncertain of the Prince’s true intentions, as he is known to sow his seeds all over this fertile land. The Prince, at a loss, did not know what to do to convince the Fair Maiden of his true love.

Unaware to the Prince, the land’s most evil witch was standing right beside the Prince. The Evil Witch whispered to the Prince “buy her overpriced chocolates and candies wrapped up in adorable but unnecessary lacy wrappings and little bow ribbons and she will fall head over heels for you”. The Prince was convinced and did exactly that. The Fair Maiden accepted the lavish gifts bestowed upon her by the Prince, only never to be seen ever again. The Prince was heart broken and ordered the Evil Witch to be executed. Before her execution, the Evil Witch cast an evil spell over all men that on that fateful spring day every year, they shall buy overpriced chocolates and candies wrapped up in adorable but unnecessary lacy wrappings and little bow ribbons for their loved ones.

This evil spell was cast throughout the land for eternity and so every March 14, men all over this land will fall under this spell. Historians later learnt that the Evil Witch’s real name was The Greedy Corporation. Men all over this land never lived happily ever after.”

If you’re still wondering, tomorrow is White Day. “White WHAT????” I hear you ask. OK. Here’s the deal. We all know Valentine’s Day, right? Well in Korea, V Day is reserved for women to lavish gifts on their men. Profiteering businesses here milk the men one month later, on White Day which falls on March 14 every year. So on this day, men are supposed to do the giving and women the receiving. *sigh* Only in Korea. (oh and Japan)

Apart from that, I heard that originally, marshmallows had a big part on White Days. All the reason why it's called White Day, because of the extensive distribution of marshmallows.. Or something like that.. ^^; Phew though, good thing I'm not living in Korea or Japan.. My boss told me that Korea also celebrates a Black Day-day.. There, couples celebrate their love by eating black noodles.. I think that's the squid-ink noodles they've been gawking about.. Wahahaha, I wonder if there's Purple Day as well? Pink Day? Blue? All-the-colors-days? :lmao: So does that mean D-day means.. uhh.. wait.. is there a color's name that starts with letter D? Damn. I guess I can't put s joke about D-day and the colors then? Sheesh. Hmm.. Okay, as suggested by my friend, Dirty White.

Dirty White Day.
wait a fckiun minute..
:D

I just realized just how dirty a Dirty White Day can be.. :lmao: Haha, they celebrate Dirty White Day right after White Day! (gotta stop.. stop.. buwahahahaahahaha! Imagination, folks. It kills at times.)

About the Black day I mentioned above, it's not a day for couples, my bad ^^; No, they don't eat squid-ink noodles either. :XD:

Black Day (April 14) is an informal tradition for single people to get together and eat noodles with black bean sauce in South Korea. The idea is that those who didn't give or receive gifts on Valentine's Day or White Day, can get together and eat Jja-jang myeon / Zza-zang-meoun (짜장면;), Korean-Chinese noodles with black bean sauce (hence the name) to commiserate their singledom.

Last day our Korean boss treated us to a Fookien restaurant and ate 짜장면! It really tasted good! It's similar to our country's pancit canton & lomi, though Zazzangmeoun was somewhat sweeter.. :)
